It's important to know some key things about potential mold growth in your Western Dutchess County home.

You might've just noticed some dark spots in the attic or basement of your home in Western Dutchess County, but you're not quite sure what it is. Check out these facts about mold to help determine if the damaged area is prone for mold growth and you might be surprised!

-Mold spores are everywhere in our environment and can enter homes easily.


-Most types of mold grow quickly when they have a water source and an organic food source (think about the soap in your tub, it's food for them!). Perhaps there's a slow leak stemming from the gutters or damage to the roof?


-Ideal temps for mold growth is between 60 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Bathroom fans are are helpful for this and moisture control. A dehumidifier in your basement can be good idea as well.
